The National Center for Electronic Commerce and Digital Marketing is born in Spain

From the hand of Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism of Spain he was born National Center for Electronic Commerce and Digital Marketing, a national reference center that "Aims to respond to the changes experienced in recent years in the field of trade and marketing in the face of the digitization of the economy and society.

This initiative has been launched through an inter-ministerial collaboration agreement within the objectives of the Digital Agenda for Spain and, therefore, is contemplated within the framework of the plans of "Digital Inclusion and Employability" and "ICT in SMEs and Electronic Commerce".

The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism has communicated in a press release the reasons that justify the creation of this center.

A strong demand is being generated for professionals with new business-oriented digital skills, and therefore measures are required to adapt the supply of training, internships and qualifications to the reality demanded by companies. It is also convenient to highlight the transversality of these competences, which affect the competitiveness of the rest of the economic and professional activities in a globalized world and which act with a multiplier effect.

Objectives of the National Center for Electronic Commerce and Digital Marketing

The main objectives of this new National Center for Electronic Commerce and Digital Marketing include the following:

  • boost employment in the digital economy sector by identifying the most demanded profiles in e-commerce, marketing and public relations;
  • the training or requalification of professionals to guide them towards new job opportunities
  • enhancing the professional and academic recognition of new professions
  • the promotion of entrepreneurial initiatives

In this way, the educational field will be the priority for this new organization, since the updating of the Professional Training programs will be promoted to adjust them to the new professional demands in innovative sectors of the economy. For this, the training modules, professional certificates and professional training degrees will be analyzed and updated, and new degrees will be promoted.

Public-private collaboration

The School of Industrial Organization (EOI), dependent on the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, will host the new Reference Center in its facilities and will be in charge of managing its activities, in collaboration with the public business entity Red.es, which also depends on of the Ministry of Industry. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Employment and Social Security also collaborate in the launch of the Center through the Public State Employment Service (SEPE), which will finance the activities included in the annual work plan of the Center .

In addition to its facilities, the School of Industrial Organization will make its platform and online training resources available to the Center, as well as its wide network of teachers.

The Center also has the support of the business sector, whose involvement and collaboration are key to identifying the skills and profiles most in demand, facilitating student access to internships and supporting the development of entrepreneurial initiative.

The Center will have a Social Council or body for the participation of the productive sector, which, in addition to including representation of the administrations that signed the agreement, will have the participation of the most representative business and union organizations.

Training adapted to the demands of the labor market

The Center will have three main departments.

  1. Department for Observation and Research: It will be in charge of analyzing, at the state level, the evolution of the productive sectors in order to adapt the training offer to the needs of the labor market. Likewise, it will study the suitability of the facilities, equipment and teaching aids for the training centers, and will establish with them and with companies in the sector ways of collaboration to promote research, innovation and development of professional training.
  2. Department for Development, Innovation, Experimentation and Training: It will take care of experimentation in training innovation actions linked to the National Catalog of Professional Qualifications to validate its adequacy and, where appropriate, develop updated content, methodologies and teaching materials. In addition, it will contribute to designing and developing technical and methodological improvement plans aimed at teaching or training staff, it will collaborate with the most representative business and union organizations and participate in international programs and initiatives.
  3. Department of Accreditation and Recognition of Professional Qualifications: will be in charge of collaborating with INCUAL in updating the National Catalog of Professional Qualifications, collaborating in the preparation of certificates of professionalism, as well as collaborating in the evaluation and accreditation procedure of the professional competences acquired through work experience.
