56% of online purchases in Spain are made between Monday and Wednesday

According to a study by Idetiendas  on online consumption habits in Spain in 2014, 56% of online purchases are made between Monday and Wednesday. This is one of the many interesting facts that this study has revealed, the conclusions of which are very useful for all eretailers.

Next we will see the most outstanding conclusions of this study, carried out with data from more than 3500 operations carried out during the first half of the year.

According to the study carried out by Yodeteindas, the categories in which there is a greater expenditure are technology, video games, electronics or household appliances. The fashion and footwear sectors obtained a considerable not only in sales but in visits. The fact that the mechanics sector has grown stands out and has placed itself in the top 6 list of categories with the most sales of Yodetiendas.

The average cost of each online purchase is € 79 for each purchase, although in technology, for example, the average cost rises to € 200 per purchase. This represents a significant increase over the previous year. This is mainly due to the general reduction in shipping costs and the increase in confidence generated in online shopping. In fact, users highly value the customer service, the existence of a telephone number without 902 or 900, the quality of the product, the reduction in delivery times and the clear visibility of prices (with VAT) and shipping costs. . As proof, we see Yodetiendas has found that 1 in every 50 online purchases is previously attended through chat, e-mail, or telephone.

If we distinguish between men and women, one of the novelties is that despite the fact that studies have been read in which it is stated that the percentage of buyers is more or less the same (around 50% each sex), the data say that the women buy more than men, the percentage of women being close to 60% and that of men around 40%.

Regarding the most demanded categories of both sexes, Yodetiendas has found that women spend more on cosmetics, fashion, footwear, toys and products for babies and children, although there is an upward trend in technological and electronic products. For their part, men have among their favorite categories household appliances, technology and electronics, and mechanical products.

Regarding the shopping hours, we anticipated at the beginning that more than half of the purchases (56%) were made between Mondays and Wednesdays. According to Yodetiendas, this may be due to delivery times since although the customer who buys online knows that they exist, he prefers not to have an excessively high delay time and enjoy his purchases during the same week. The day my online purchases are made is Saturday.

Regarding the hours and shopping habits during the day, users prefer to buy in the mornings, especially between 11:00 and 13:00. Starting at 22:00 p.m., the volume of purchases drops considerably.

Regarding payment methods, Yodetiendas has observed that the card continues to be the preferred means of payment, although the growth of transfer payments is curious, according to them. In addition, more and more cash on delivery payments are being requested and the fact that they are not available is putting potential new customers back.

Finally, Yodetiendas observes that more online purchases are made in the north of Spain than in the south, with Madrid being the city where the most is purchased online and Malaga the one with the fewest virtual customers.
